Fish is one of the most beneficial foods you can eat during pregnancy, providing essential nutrients crucial for your baby's development. The recommendation is 1-2 portions of fish per week, with one being an oily fish variety.

Fish provides a fantastic combination of nutrients that are particularly important during pregnancy:
Omega 3 Fatty Acids: These are crucial for your baby's brain and eye development. DHA, in particular, accumulates in the brain and retina during the third trimester. Breastmilk is also responsive to maternal diet of omega 3.
Iodine: Essential for thyroid function and brain development. Iodine deficiency during pregnancy can lead to developmental issues.
Choline: Important for brain and nervous system development, and may help prevent neural tube defects. It also helps to transport DHA across the placenta.
